Trinket by Kath x Yanti Sastrawan

Trinket by Kath is a creative brand initiated by Indonesian illustrator, Kathrin Honesta. In May 2021, the TBK team and I started a collaboration in expanding their campaign #TrinketBlossoms in their Instagram channel, combining poetry with Kathrin’s distinct visual brand. #notthatBTS

#notthatBTS is a sister-collective created by Savitri Sastrawan , Yanti Sastrawan, and Tri Sastrawan. The #notthatBTS collaboration was executed with an idea given by one of the sisters, then interpreted in their respective visual languages. BTS is an acronym of Bule-Tembem-Selem, which were family nicknames they gave to each other. With the famous Korean boy band group resembling the initials, their group finally decided to call itself #notthatBTS (not that BTS).

Back in August 2020, Adrian Benn invited an open collaboration in interpreting the work of poetry to music. Adrian, Adinda Smaradhana and myself started discussing the potential creative exploration from writing poetry, creating its musical language and visualising it. The theme we explored was the idea of living abroad, far from our hometown, and our experience of living particularly in Stockholm. With it all being very experimental, it became a spoken word poetry that I wrote and the adaptation of the music composed by Adrian was brought to life with the black and white film created by Adinda.
